On average, a fresh nopal without thorns lasts only 10 days, and it must be refrigerated to do so. This can make quality preservation difficult, as well as increase its costs. NOPAL CACTUS EXTRACT
The prickly pear excretes a viscous substance called mucilage, one of the plant's most important components. This substance is part of the plant's dietary fiber and has been the subject of study for several decades. This compound is present in both the cladodes and the skin and pulp of the fruit, although in very different proportions.

Furthermore, by comparing its properties with the most consumed moisturizer in the world, aloe vera, it retains moisture more effectively in the skin, is more economical, and is widely available in terms of industrial extraction.
